The event was hosted by media personality Sokoo Hemaa (Melody Kukua Ibrahim) and brought together leaders from various sectors united by a common vision — to recognise and celebrate the businesses that have built Ghana's commercial heritage.
The founder and Chief Executive Officer of the scheme, veteran actor and media personality Nii Saka Brown, said the award was created to recognise organisations whose "resilience, vision, leadership, and consistency" have stood the test of time. Unlike conventional accolades that often prioritise recent achievements, the Platinum Excellence Award is uniquely structured to assess long-term contributions, ensuring that only the most enduring and impactful organisations are celebrated.

The awards ceremony is expected to be held in September 2026 and will feature 20 distinct categories for companies in the private sector, along with four outstanding product awards. A high-calibre judging panel will evaluate submissions based on rigorous criteria including operational longevity, community development, innovation, leadership, and corporate governance.
